We docked at Laem Chabang, a large shipping port in Thailand and the port of entry for Bangkok. Buses took us the almost two hour ride to Bangkok for our overnight stay on land.
Our first stop was the Grand Palace which is a large ornate grounds housing many different parts of the old palace. The buildings are covered in jewels and gold and glisten in the sun. It was intently hot in the sun with temperatures topping 97 degrees and feeling like 104 degrees with the humidity.
While at the Grand Palace, we were able to see the parade for the changing of the Palace Guards. They were in lock step and their clicking of boots resonated across the bricks. It was very impressive.
Following that we took a small boat across the river to a restaurant for lunch. We then got on board another video tour of the river before re-boarding our bus for a short stop at a Thai jewelry shop where we were able to see craftsmen cutting jade and making the jewelry.
We arrived at our hotel and unpacked and rested before a fantastic dinner buffet overlooking the river. After dinner, Sharon visited the night market with several other passengers and found elephant pants and a couple of t-shirts.
